i was alone and completely aware of how small i was, in the grand scheme of things. that sliver of peninsula, the hum of animals and only myself and my thoughts - I anticipated feeling fear, but i have never felt such peace. i felt safe in my aloneness, i felt safe because i was in the middle of nowhere!  it was one of the greatest times in my life.
